Stay in your own stone castle on Tamborine Mountain, in the Gold Coast hinterland. The Botanical Castle sits in rainforest beside the Tamborine Mountain Botanic Gardens, about 800 m from Gallery Walk, and sleeps 8 across four bedrooms: the Queen's Turret Suite, the King's Chamber, the Rainforest Retreat cabin and the Castle Hideaway bunk room. Cook on the BBQ or in the pizza oven, eat by the courtyard fountain and finish the night in the Roosevelt Bar.

BEDROOMS (SLEEPS 8) Queen's Turret Suite: white four-poster queen bed and private ensuite, high in the stone turret. King's Chamber: dark timber four-poster queen bed and a slate floor. Rainforest Retreat: private garden cabin just off the courtyard, with a queen bed, air conditioning, a fan, TV, kettle, toaster and fridge. Castle Hideaway: bunk bed with a double below and a single above, good for kids. Let us know the week before if you'd like it made up. Two bathrooms with showers, one of them the Turret Suite ensuite. INSIDE An upstairs lounge with leadlight windows over the rainforest and a slow combustion wood heater in a stone alcove, a dining room and a kitchen. The breakfast nook table is on wheels, so it can join the dining table for a bigger group. The Roosevelt Bar is a speakeasy-style room with neon lights and a bar fridge (bring your own drinks). Fans in the lounge and bedrooms. OUTSIDE Stone courtyard with a fountain, fairy lights and an outdoor table under a big umbrella. Covered BBQ area with a gas BBQ and pizza oven. Glass greenhouse sunroom. Balcony where king parrots and rosellas visit. PROVIDED Linen, towels and bath essentials, Wi-Fi, washing machine, 20 kg of firewood (extra bags A$35) and free parking on site. BEFORE YOU BOOK There are lots of steps inside and out, so the castle may not suit guests with limited mobility. The kitchen and living areas are cosy for 8 adults. The castle runs on a small water tank, so quick showers please. Parking is tight. Outdoor wood fires can't be lit during a local fire ban. Check-in from 2pm, checkout by 10am. There are lots of steps, inside and out, so the castle may not suit guests with limited mobility, and packing light helps. The Rainforest Retreat is a separate cabin just off the courtyard. The kitchen and living areas are cosy, so a full group of 8 adults will feel snug. Need the Castle Hideaway bunks made up? Let Jodie know the week before you arrive. The castle runs on a small water tank, so quick showers please. The Rainforest Retreat has air conditioning, and the castle has fans in the lounge and bedrooms. Outdoor wood fires can't be lit during a local fire ban. Each stay includes 20 kg of firewood for the wood heater, and extra bags are A$35 each (add them in your guest portal or just ask Jodie). Early check-in or late checkout can sometimes be arranged for A$22 an hour. Up to 8 guests. No parties or events, no pets and no smoking inside. Quiet hours are 9pm to 7am.

The Botanic Gardens are next door, and the Rainforest Skywalk, Curtis Falls and local wineries are a short drive away. About 45 minutes from the Gold Coast and 75 minutes from Brisbane.
Guest Access
The whole castle is yours: all four bedrooms including the Rainforest Retreat cabin, the lounge, the kitchen, dining room, Roosevelt Bar, greenhouse sunroom, balcony and the courtyard with its BBQ and pizza oven. Self check-in is from 2pm, when the gates are unlocked, and we'll send arrival details before you come. Checkout is by 10am. Parking on site is free but tight, so please carpool if you can.
